• The Dignity for All Students Act (DASA)

    The goal of the Dignity Act is to create a safe and supportive school climate where students can learn and focus, rather than fear being discriminated against and/or verbally and/or physically harassed. Our students have the right to attend school in a safe, welcoming, considerate, and caring environment. The Floral Park-Bellerose School District with our Board of Education is committed to providing a safe and orderly school environment where students may receive and district personnel may deliver quality educational services without disruption or interference. Responsible behavior by students, teachers, other district personnel, parents and other visitors is essential to achieving this goal.


    Prevention & Creating a Positive School Climate

    • The district will be implementing a program that aims to prevent and eliminate harassment and/or discrimination. The program will teach students and staff knowledge about harassment and discrimination, strategies to respond to this, as well as the importance of being inclusive and accepting of all students. The district will also incorporate additional curriculum materials that teach tolerance and respect for all individuals.


    Responding to Incidences of Discrimination, Harassment/Bullying

    • All staff members will be required to report incidences of discrimination, harassment/bullying (student to student; employee to student) by following the reporting procedures.
